Hidden wedding costs that affect your budget This might not be your favorite part of planning your wedding but your budget is the foundation for everything else. If you are not budgeting for these hidden/extra costs it can greatly affect your bottom line. Hidden cost number 1: The Plus Rate. This can catch you off guard when you go to pay your final bill. The Plus Rate is a service charge, gratuity or tax that is added to your final cost a caterer or venue quotes you. For example: you book a venue and use their in house caterer. You are quoted $20+ per person for sit down dinner. (This may be really low or high but its a good round number for sake of this example.) You are having 100 guests and doing the math figure out that your catering budget would be $2000. While in reality the caterers are charging a 17% gratuity making your actual catering bill $2340. That's an extra $340 you did not budget for. This may seem like an insignificant amount but if you have 3 or 4 hidden costs like this it can add up really fast. Always read the fine print before signing any contract and be sure to ask about gratuity or service charge. Love and happiness, Morgan "Love is friendship set on fire" -Jeremy Taylor |
