Tip 1: Yes, Hire a Planner!  So, you have $2000.00 to spend for your wedding guest list of 75 people. Start by setting a realistic budget and begin researching for a Wedding Planner.  Knowing the stress that can arise from planning a wedding, hire a planner! That’s right I want you to hire a wedding planner with your $2000.00 Budget! Call your local planner and set a meeting for Budget Guidance only- this will lead you in the right direction! This is not a big cost, and will save you a lot of money in the long run! This step is truly crucial for the rest of your planning process. Also ask about Day of Services and a good planner will work with you to create you a stress free wedding day on a realistic price!

Tip 2: Stick to your budget & ask for what you need!! There are many professional vendors that will work with your budget. Only have $300 for Photography, no problem. Wedding Ceremony (30 minutes) and the first 30 minutes of your reception(first dance) & then place wedding cameras on the tables for the reception to capture the rest!  These are your memories so having a professional capture this is important.

Tip 3: You can afford a caterer, so no potluck dinners! There are catering companies out there that will do a “you buy the food, I will cook it” exchange for a lower price. You will spend at most $800.00 in this category, which includes buying the food & drinks! This is great because you will have a delicious meal, beautiful set-up and do not have to worry about it being late, cold, or running out! DIY Monogram

Make your own monogram!

Even if you are on a tight budget there is no reason your wedding can't look like you spared no expense. Monograms are elegant, understated, and classic. They are used to add a personal touch to invitations, wedding decor and thank you cards. Monograms can be incorporated into the wedding on programs, ring bearer pillow, on an aisle runner or dance floor, on bottle labels, etc.......

Usually, the couples initials are used to create a unique design that reflects their personalities. The couples last name initial in a capital letter is  in the center with the first initial of the bride on the left and the groom on the right. Of course it is up to you how you do this, you can use full names, add your wedding date or a graphic.  When creating your monogram think about how you are as a couple; are you contemporary, traditional, edgy? What colors are you using for your wedding?

To create a monogram I like to use Microsoft publisher.
Step 1. Open a new page and from the insert menu select text box.

Step 2. In the middle of the page draw the text box and put the grooms last initial. You can highlight it and adjust the size, font and color until you find one you like. You may have to adjust the text box size when you make your adjustments.

Step 3. Repeat step 2 for both the bride and grooms first initial. The brides initial goes on the left and the grooms on the right. Traditionally these are smaller than the last name initial. Again, make this about you. Use first names instead of initials, add your wedding date. What ever makes it special and represents you as a couple.

Step 4. Move the different text boxes around until you are satisfied with the way it looks. If you would like to add an image to the monogram go to the insert menu, click on select picture then click open to insert the picture of your choice.
Place your image where you would like it. While the image is selected, click on recolor and select a washout or shaded color effect. Use the brightness option to make your image the right shade. Then while the image is still selected, click send to back.

Step 5. You now need to group all the boxes together. Hold down ctrl and click on all the different text and image boxes you have. While still holding down ctrl press c to copy.

Step 6. You need to save your monogram as a jpeg. file. So now that you have it copied, open paint and copy it on a blank page. Save it as a jpeg file.

Congratulations!! You have just made your own wedding monogram.

DIY photo lanterns

I found this amazing DIY centerpiece idea from the queen of DIY, Martha Stewart.

These consist of three hinged photo frames set around votive candles. The black-and-white photos are printed onto ecru-colored vellum paper, which is translucent enough for the images to be visible by candlelight.

Photo Centerpiece How-To
Disassemble three like-sized frames, setting aside their fronts and discarding their backings. Paint or stain wooden frames desired color; let dry. Upload or scan photographs into a computer. With editing software, make the images black and white, and resize them to fit your frames. Print them onto vellum paper with an ink-jet printer. Slip the images into the frames. Using cloth tape, hinge frames together to form a triangle. Stand frames around a candle in a protective glass holder.

If you are using a venue that does not allow candles, the battery operated tea-light candles also work. This is really fun if you use photos of the bride and groom as children, or engagement photos.

I made one of these to see how easy it was and how much it actually cost.  Here is the break down:
3 picture frames from the Dollar Tree- $3
Vellum paper- $5 for 250 sheets. (I plan on doing a lot more projects!)
Book binding tape- $2
Battery operated tea-lights-$1 from the Dollar Tree
Total project cost-$11
Difficulty level- Easy
